My name is Dalia and I am
one of six dogs CRT rescued from a backyard breeder. I am 10
years old, 5 lbs, and had many things wrong with me when CRT came to my aid.
As soon as I was rescued I was spayed, had a mammary tumor
removed, had two bladder stones removed, lost 14 teeth (two of them broken off
at the root), and had two different kinds of hernias repaired. I even had a big
old hole right through my abdominal wall! There were all kinds of adhesions and
stuff from a past c-section since I gave birth to too many litters.

My foster Mom says I am a
special needs dog. To me that means that you must give me a
soft warm bed and cuddle me lots, but foster Mom says that means that if you
want to be my forever Mom and/or Dad you must keep me on my special food and
have my urine checked periodically by a vet to help prevent further bladder
stones. You also must make sure that I stay at my current
weight (I was quite overweight when I first got here) because I have luxating
pattellas and staying trim
makes it easier for me to get around. I am a bit bow-legged
because of that, but Foster Mom says I look kind of cute with my little
"waddle". I also must not be crated for a long period of
time because holding my urine (which I do well) is not a good thing to do when
one has a history of bladder stones.
Now that doesn't mean that
I am a sickly little girl; quite the contrary. I am an
energetic, fun-loving playful little lady. In fact I do my
best to keep up with a lively three year old foster who lives here and do a
pretty good job of that if I do say so! I'd love another little
friend who likes to run and play, but no larger dogs for me!
I am
house broken and try to do my "business" outside whenever possible but if I
cannot get outside I always use my puppy pads. After all I
am a lady, and that's the proper thing for a lady to do.
I am up to date on my
shots, am micro-chipped and my remaining teeth are pearly white.
I have a smooth white with black spots coat and currently weigh about 5
and ½ pounds. I love to sit in Foster Mom's lap or lay next
to her in our favorite chair. She has a set of doggie steps
for me to use to climb into the chair or onto the sofa. I
easily navigate the steps; in fact, I sometimes take a snooze on one of the
steps as my photo shows. I need a very secure fenced yard
because I love my new-found freedom of roaming around the yard and snoozing in
the sun. No small children please, I am not particularly
fond of them. I would like another well trained Chihuahua
as a companion and playmate.
Foster Mom says to tell you
that I am a very loving girl who deserves to live out the rest of my life in a
home that understands and has experience with Chihuahuas and will love and
cherish me since the first part of my life was not the happiest.
If you want a "mature" lady who will adore you and give you kisses and
licks then I am the one for you.
Just fill out an application on our website, and then email Laura at
MidwestCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com. I will pack up my blanket and food
and be on my way to you licketty split.
