My name is Cassie and
I am 10 years old, and am finally no longer used for
producing puppy after puppy! My foster parents say
that I'm one of the sweetest little girls they have
ever met. I've gained some much needed weight and
muscle toning and am now a cute petite 5 pound,
happy chi! I enjoy going outside when the weather is
nice, and even like to explore and sniff all of the
smells in the area. But I don't like to be far from
my special person.....I don't really like to be
alone at all. I prefer doing my business outside,
but will use a piddle pad instead if one is
convenient. My favorite spot in the house is on a
soft pillow up on the sofa where I can see
everything that is going on (and be more 'available'
for gentle pets and scratches from people I know
aren't going to try to hurt me).
I was a very shy and scared little girl in the
beginning of my life of freedom, but I've been
improving. I still have some worries that maybe you
can help me overcome. Since I've been rescued,
everything has been very positive, but those ghosts
from the old times still haven't totally faded away
yet. I seldom cower down any more when foster mom
comes to me, but I still often do with other people
until I really believe that they aren't going to
hurt me. Anyone can pet me because I'm so sweet, but
I might look a little scared when they do until I
get to know them better. I have been beginning to
become a real family oriented girl too---I don't
like to be left out of things that are going on,
although I might initially be worried and nervous
about new activities until I know what's expected of
me. I don't ask for much. I'm not really a pesterer
or needy kind of dog. I'm a little girl and won't
take up much space. I can be a cute, humorous, and
even silly little chi when I'm!
feeling frisky! I don't bark much (just
sometimes when I get excited about meal time!) I do
enjoy taking naps and peacefully hanging out. As an
older gal, like many dogs (and humans), I've lost
some hearing, but not all of it--just get the treat
bag out, and I'll prove it to you! I do like to play
'helpless' sometimes, just so foster mom will carry
me to bed at night, or sometimes outside when it's
time to go potty. (I can walk there myself, but I
really do enjoy being kissed, snuggled, and held by
someone that I have learned to trust.) I can
dance and act silly when it is meal time; I'm right
there in front of the line at treat time; and I
enjoy being able to sleep in bed with my foster
parents and the other fur kids. I get along very
well with the other chihuahuas here, and have
learned that it's not proper to chase the kitties.
I do have this one little physical thing that
I need to mention---I had 8 teeth removed, and now I
have this 'different' kind of look. When youlook at
my face, you can now often see the tip of my tongue sticking
out the very front of my mouth, just a little ways.
Foster mom says it looks like I'm giving everyone I
look at the "royal raspberry"! Everyone
who sees me thinks it makes me look like a cute
little clown. If it makes everyone like me, then I
like it too!
My forever home would either need someone at home to
be with me most of the time, or have another little
dog to keep me company, no small children or large
dogs and a fenced yard is necessary, as I
am not leash trained--it's something that really
terrifies me. Most of all, I need someone who will
love me unconditionally, be patient, and be
understanding--I really, really need my very own
special forever person, and I promise to do my best
to make my special person so very proud of me.
If you would like to share your life and love
with me, please complete an adoption
application and then email Laura at MidwestCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com
to let her know that you have applied to adopt me.
