Wow, do we have a dog for you !
Or maybe it's a prehistoric Chihuahua?
That's it ! It's a stegosaurus-
chi mix!
This is Sheniya. That's her given name, but we've taken to calling her
Pudge. For awhile there we called her Pudge Bunny because the back
half of her does resemble a rabbit, but we shortened it to Pudge.
In addition to stegosaurus, rabbit, and Chihuahua, we think there's
some corgi and wirey terrier-like genes in her. Isn't she just the
oddest little girl you've ever seen? And you know what? She's as
loving and playful as she is odd-looking!
Sheniya,
aka Pudge, came to CRT as an owner-surrender. Not much is known about
her other than she's 1 1/2 years old and the family had her for the
last year. That family included 6 children, so Pudge never did get
house-trained what with all the pandemonium that 6 kids brings. So
we're working on housetraining, crate training, and all those other
things that a good dinosaur-chi mix should know. She is *extremely*
playful and is having a blast playing with her foster brother, Rico
Suave. She really holds her own against him and matches him jump for
jump, lap around the yard for lap around the yard.
I think the wirey hairs make her look old, don't you? That's part of
the reason why it's so funny to see her run and play like crazy....who
would think an old dog could do that ! But she truly is a young pup.
And, even funnier is that when you jog a little with her and watch her
from behind, those back legs pump together just like a rabbit's legs
do.
Pudge
loves to sit under the table!
She is not yet totally sold on the idea of pottying *outside*, but we
are working very consistently on that. She is also learning that it's
not a bad thing to be in her kennel when Foster Mom and Foster Dad are
at work. After all, if you're going to nap anyway, you might as well
do it in your nice comfy kennel, right?
Oh, and about that name "Pudge"....yes, she is a bit pudgey at 10 lbs.
She is on a high-quality diet food and is also getting a long walk
every day. She and her foster bro, Rico, are having a great time
dragging FM and FD around the parks and neighborhood working off some
of *their* winter blubber, too ! Hopefully, she'll lose at least 2 lbs
of that and be a nice even 8-lb little girl.
Sheniya loves to sleep with her people all night long in their
bed....you could say she's a real cuddle bunny ! She also enjoys lots
of lap time and tummy rubs.
If
you have a securely fenced yard and no large dogs, Sheniya would fit
well. She would probably enjoy older, well-behaved children, but no
young ones. Please complete an adoption application and then email
