COWBOY UPDATE 11/25/2007
Greetings to
all my wonderful fans and support group…..
WOW! What a
year this has been! I’ve been in the hospital more than I’ve
been home this year. All because of my ears. To make a long
story short, I had a baaaaad ear infection and in the early
spring, the vets started trying to clear it up. Well, that
didn’t work, as you all know. I had to have my ear canals
closed off and stents put in. Worked fine on one side, but the
other side would not heal. So finally CRT sent me to Dallas,
Texas, to a specialist and he just removed everything from the
left ear! I sure feel good now! Oh, and I can still hear, but
not real well, which is kinda fun because I have an excuse for
not minding my Foster Mom and Dad! Hehehehe.
It
is so good to be home! However…. Something new is happening.
I have to go for walks! Twice a day! Sheesh! Even when it is
cold! Oh well, my Mom says I am “slimming down” and “looking
handsome!”, so that is a good thing. I am having a lot of fun
playing with the other foster furs here, but my favorite thing
is to get on my Foster Dad’s chair with him and watch football!
Hope
everybody had a great Thanksgiving. I am so thankful for all
the wonderful Best Friends who have helped me get through this
year. My Mom and Dad send their love and best wishes to all of
you! Thanks for giving me a chance!
Cowboy
Cowboy is
ready for his forever home. He is neutered, UTD on
vaccinations, microchipped, & on HW preventative.
***If you are
interested in adopting Cowboy, and you live in the Dallas, north
central Texas, or Oklahoma City area, please email the
applicationcoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com. Please read
about our adoption process, and then fill out an adoption
application before emailing the contact person.
UPDATE 8/11/07:
Cowboy has now had his third ear surgery.
His left ear surgery went well and has completely healed,
but the right ear sealed over before it was supposed to and had
to be redone. Now,
a stent has been placed, held in by staples.
These surgeries have been very painful and Cowboy is
still staying with the vet because of ongoing medication and
treatment needs. Once he is healed, he will be ready for adoption!
This is the most loving, precious guy around.
He loves to "talk" to his folks, and has a lot
to say! His coat is
gorgeous now, and while he is a tad overweight, that will work
itself out once he is able to go outside and play, and not have
to be kept quiet all the time.
Cowboy is in serious need of sponsors!
His medical expenses have been enormous, but once he is
well, he will probably be healthy for a long, long time.
Even tho he is on heart medications, those are
inexpensive -- a 6-month supply of his heart med was $15.00 at
Wal-Mart.
UPDATE 7/9/07:
Cowboy is doing well and is resting comfortably in his foster
home. His right ear has healed beautifully. His left ear has
healed internally but he is having some issues with the incision
site. It continues healing over so our vet is consulting the
specialist surgeon to have a stint put in.
UPDATE 7/1/07:
Cowboy is doing well and is
resting comfortably in his foster home. His right ear has
healed beautifully. His left ear has healed internally but he
is having some issues with the incision site. We are still
medicating him and he'll go back for a re-check on it in a few
weeks to see how it's doing. He is on the road to recovery
though and, hopefully, will be available for adoption soon!
Cowboy is healing up nicely and seems
to feel a little better every day. His ears surely feel
better than they did before when they were filled with pus and
nodules lining his ear canals. Cowboy could really use some
more best friends. His surgery and medications are over $800
at this time. If you can help offset the vet bills, please
email
sponsor@Chihuahua-rescue.com
Update 5/1/07:
Cowboy had serious ear infections deep in his ears that remained
even after rounds of medication. The vet confirmed that he
needed ear surgery in both ears. Cowboy had the surgery last
week (3 hours worth) and is resting now. His infections
were even worse once the vet was inside his ears. He had to
have parts of both vertical canals removed. His recovery will
be the toughest part. The cleanings will be very painful to
him but, luckily, we have a great vet who is taking him home with
her to do the cleanings herself. He is on pain medication to
ease his pain right now and we hope that he'll get a little better
everyday.
If you'd like to be a best friend to
Cowboy, please email
sponsor@Chihuahua-rescue.com. Once his ears are healed up,
he will be available for adoption.
