Put A Little Love In Your Life - Adopt A Chihuahua

THE CAROLINAS
The coordinator for
NC and SC is

wildlifeed2@aol.com

Below you will find the current list of Chihuahuas who are in need of a loving home. If you are interested in learning more about a specific Chihuahua, please e-mail the contact. They will get back to you with information as quickly as possible.

If you are looking for a dog that is unaltered, please do not ask.  ALL dogs are spayed/neutered without any exceptions.

If you are interested in adopting, but the Chihuahuas currently listed are not in your area, feel free to complete an adoption application.  You can also read about how our adoption process works.  Please also read up about the Chihuahua breed to be sure this is the right fit for you and your household.

***CRT requests an adoption fee of at least $200.00.  In the event that you are adopting a puppy from us, which is very rare, the adoption fee will increase.  All of our dogs are altered, vaccinated, heartworm tested and fecal tested prior to adoption.  Again, please read about our adoption process.

CRT Best Friends Program

Won't you be my best friend?  Hi! We are Chihuahuas who need a forever home.  Right now we live with a foster mom who takes very good care of us.  We know that you would love to adopt us but can't do it right now.  If you'd like to help take care of us you can become our "Best Friend."  You can make a weekly donation of $5 or more, a monthly donation of $20 or more, or a one time donation of any amount.  Even if you are planning to adopt one of us, there are so many more still waiting for that perfect home.  When you become our Best Friend your name will appear next to our photo and we will be so grateful.  Please, help us get home.

If you would like to have a Best Friend, please email Sponsor@chihuahua-rescue.com.

PICO
Pico is a little 3 year old long-coat male with diabetes. He's not on the CRT web site yet since he was just rescued earlier this month. His owner didn't want to deal with giving him insulin, so he was dumped at the pound and was close to death when rescued by our NC coordinator. He spent several days at the emergency vet clinic, which wound up costing around $2,000. He's doing much better now, but they're still working on determining the correct dosage of insulin and getting him totally stabilized. He's also having some behavioral problems, which his foster mom thinks is either a result of abuse or from his system being whacked out from going so long without insulin. He's safe now and getting the medical treatment he needs, and since he's so young and cute, we expect he'll be adopted even with the diabetes; it'll just take a little longer to find the right forever home for him.

Thanks!

In the meantime, a big thanks to his Best Friends!

RENA AND REGGIE
Hello! Our names are Rena and Reggie and we were dumped at a shelter, after our owners didn't want us anymore. Our foster mom says that she cannot understand why we were dumped, because we are such great dogs. We are spayed and neutered, UTD on shots, had dentals and are house and crate trained. When we are told to go into our crates, we will run in the crate and cover up with one of the many blankets that our foster mom has for us. We love being together and are very bonded so we must be adopted together. Our adoption fee is only $200 for both of us together. Won't you give us a forever home?

ROSA

Hello! My name is Rosa and I am 6 years old, spayed and UTD on my shots. I am very quiet and I love to snuggle. I am housetrained and crate trained and I need to be in a home where there are no children. I was dumped at a shelter and because I was scared and stayed in the back of my cage, CRT was asked to take me in. I'm so glad that they did! Won't you give me a chance to show you what a wonderful part of your family I can be?

My adoption fee is $200.00. Please put my name somewhere on the application. A home visit will be required so I can only be adopted in NC/SC and possibly VA. If you have questions about me, you can page my foster mom at 336-733-7885, but please fill out an application before paging her. I can only be adopted to persons over the age of 18 years.

DANNY

Hi, I'm Danny and I am around 4-5 years of age and neutered. I am UTD on my shots and am house and crate trained. I love to play with other dogs and I'm very friendly, once I get to know you. I can be a little snippy around people that I do not know but if you tell me "no," I will behave. I am good with children over 10 years of age and I love to be held. I was dumped at the shelter where it was very scary, and I'm looking for a family that will be patient with me and give me the love that I deserve. Are you that family?

My adoption fee is $200.00. Please put my name somewhere on the application. A home visit will be required so I can only be adopted in NC/SC and possibly VA. If you have questions about me, you can page my foster mom at 336-733-7885, but please fill out an application before paging her. I can only be adopted to persons over the age of 18 years.

CINNAMON

Cinnamon didn't "fit in" with his original family after the Baby came home -- he's not too fond of toddlers... but, who can blame him? At just under 4 lbs, he is a fragile fellow! What he lacks in size, he makes up for in personality. What a character! He loves to run and play, acting much younger than his 9 years. He growls and carries on when playing with a rope toy and is so excited when he gets to join his foster mom in bed that he pushes out his back legs like the King of the Mountain. He is a very good dog and such a love -- he wants to be next someone more than anything else.

He is very good with people and enjoys being held and cuddled by anyone old enough to be gentle with him. He loves his foster mom's other pets, another Chihuahua and several cats, although they aren't especially fond of him. He hasn't let that deter him from taking over the house, though. "Cinny" is now trained to go on a pee pad, -- he likes to go outside and is learning how to walk on a leash. He also needs a calm setting (and an extra small kibble) for meals as he tends to be a little nervous when eating, preferring a saucer to a bowl. Cinny is ready to give someone all of his love -- he will be quite the devoted companion.

His adoption fee is $200.00. A home visit will be required so he can only be adopted in NC/SC and possibly VA. If you have questions about him, you can page his foster mom at 336-733-7885, but please fill out an application before paging her.

PETEY
Pet Photo
Hello! My name is Petey and I was found wandering around Jacksonville, NC. I am an older dog (10+) and have scars on my body from either being hit by a car or attacked by a dog. I am very sweet and will stand up and paw the air, when I want to go out or want your attention. I will also whine at you when I want to be with you. I am very playful and just want to be by your side. I love to sleep at the foot of the bed under the covers. I am housetrained, will whin or beg when I need to go ourside and will walk nicely on a leash. I love to go for car rides and will curl up and go to sleep, if the ride is very long. I had to have a lot of my teeth pulled due to gum disease and teeth rot, am spayed, UTD on my shots and HW negative. Can you give me a chance to show you how much I can love you?

My adoption fee is $200.00, if you are interested in adopting me, please go to Chihuahua-Rescue.com and fill out an application. Please put my name somewhere on the application. A home visit will be required so I can only be adopted in NC/SC and possibly VA. Please fill out an application before paging her. I can only be adopted to persons over the age of 18 years.

Please go to our main website listed below and fill out an application to adopt me.

CHLOE AND CODY
Hi!  We are Chloe (white and brown female) and Dakota "Cody" (LH male). We are both fixed, up-to-date on shots, HW negative, on preventative, housetrained and crate trained.

We are only 13 months old and have lost our home due to our owner's health. We really need to stay together! We are a little shy at first but we are not aggressive and love to be petted!  Can anyone out there give us a new home, together?

Our adoption fee is $200.00. A home visit will be required so we can only be adopted in NC/SC and possibly VA. We can only be adopted to persons over the age of 18 years. Please go to our main website listed below and fill out an application to adopt us. Please put our name somewhere on the application.

BLACKIE AND ANGEL
Hello! Our names are Blackie and Angel and we are sisters. We are 12 years old and our owners just gave up on us and didn't want us anymore so they dropped us off at the local animal shelter. Angel was very scared when they separated us at the shelter because she is almost blind and I wasn't around to take care of her.

We are now in foster care where we like to sleep curled up together in our nice warm bed. I weigh around 4lbs and Angel is currently very overweight and on a diet (she just loves to eat). We are very friendly, spayed, UTD on shots and on HW preventative. Angel gets around the house and yard pretty well but doesn't do steps. At night, when we go outside in the dark, Angel just stands in one place unless our foster mom comes outside with us, because she can't see at all in the dark. I'm in charge of making sure that no other foster dog messes with Angel, so sometimes I have to put the others in their place.

We love people and would love to sleep on the bed with my foster mom and all of the other dogs, but I would never leave Angel. We are definitely a bonded pair so we need to be adopted together. Please let us come and live with you for the rest of our lives!

A home visit is required so we can only be adopted in NC/SC and possibly VA. You must be over 18 years of age to adopt me. Won't you give us a forever Home? Our adoption fee is $200.

Please go to our main website listed below and fill out an application to adopt us.

WIGGLES

Hey, my name is Wiggles because I’m always wagging my tail and wiggling all over the place. My brother and I were born with some birth defects (twisted front legs and degenerative hips) but we think that we are just perfect. They say that the bones in my front legs are out of place and that they didn’t grow along with my back legs, but I get along just fine on my elbows. My head also didn’t grow like it should but that just makes me more handsome. My brother only had one front leg that was deformed and he already found a forever home. My back hip is also degenerating and very soon, I will need an operation to correct this problem. This operation will probably also have to be done on my other hip some time in the future. These operations are very expensive, so I am looking for some best friends to help with the cost of these surgeries. Won’t you consider becoming one of my Best Friends and contributing to my surgery?

***Please email sponsor@chihuahua-rescue.com to be my best friend.

REVIVAL
Hello!  My name is Revival and I am approximately 1 year old.  I was dumped off at a church revival meeting when I was 6 months old and an 80 y.o. deaconess took me home and paper trained me but found that I was just too much dog for her to handle.  I am very active, a typical puppy and love to jump up and down.  I can stand with my 4 feet on the ground and jump up on the counter (something that my foster mom says isn't a good thing).  My foster mom says that I am very smart and certainly I love attention.  I am neutered, UTD on shots and HW negative.  They say that I would make a great agility dog b/c I love to jump onto the backs of people who kneel down or bend over.  Although I love to jump, a regular baby gate contains me and so far I haven’t jumped over it.  Don't you need a young energetic, handsome guy like me at your house?

***This dog is a CRT rescue.  Reference checks, adoption contract and Adoption fee required. After filling out an Adoption Application, please contact wildifeed2@aol.com if you are interested in this dog.  Please be sure to read our adoption process and then fill out an adoption application before emailing the contact person.
