Put A Little Love In Your Life - Adopt A Chihuahua

NY, NJ
The coordinator for
this region is Kachina@texas.net

Below you will find the current list of Chihuahuas who are in need of a loving home. If you are interested in learning more about a specific Chihuahua, please e-mail the contact. They will get back to you with information as quickly as possible.

If you are looking for a dog that is unaltered, please do not ask.  ALL dogs are spayed/neutered without any exceptions.

If you are interested in adopting, but the Chihuahuas currently listed are not in your area, feel free to complete an adoption application.  You can also read about how our adoption process works.  Please also read up about the Chihuahua breed to be sure this is the right fit for you and your household.

***CRT has an adoption fee of at least $200.00 in this region.  In the event that you are adopting a puppy from us, which is very rare, the adoption fee will increase.
All of our dogs are altered, vaccinated, heartworm tested and fecal tested prior to adoption.  Again, please read about our adoption process.

CRT Best Friends Program

Won't you be my best friend?  Hi! We are Chihuahuas who need a forever home.  Right now we live with a foster mom who takes very good care of us.  We know that you would love to adopt us but can't do it right now.  If you'd like to help take care of us you can become our "Best Friend."  You can make a weekly donation of $5 or more, a monthly donation of $20 or more, or a one time donation of any amount.  Even if you are planning to adopt one of us, there are so many more still waiting for that perfect home.  When you become our Best Friend your name will appear next to our photo and we will be so grateful.  Please, help us get home.

If you would like to have a Best Friend, please email Sponsor@chihuahua-rescue.com.

PACO

Paco is an 8 year old altered male Chihuahua who weighs about 7 lbs.  Paco is a little guy full of personality, who wants nothing more than to cuddle under the blankets with you on the couch.  Paco came from a home with less than ideal living conditions. In his old house, Paco was never trained to relieve himself outside, so it has taken him a little while to understand the concept of housebreaking.  In the past few months, however, he has made great strides, and rarely has an accident in the house now.  Paco is a bit nervous around new people as many Chihuahuas are, but once he warms up to you, he will be your best friend.  Paco is great with other dogs and could care less about the cats in his foster home.  He is talkative, and will bark to let you know when he wants something or is displeased about something going on in the house.  Paco is afraid of stairs.  He will grudgingly go up and down the stairs to the backyard, but if there are more than 3 or 4 stairs, he needs to be carried up and down them.  He loves going for walks, but is just as happy to get a little while to lie outside in the sun every day.  He is a low-maintenance guy and in the right home will make somebody a wonderful companion.  Paco needs a home with an experienced Chihuahua owner without small children.  Paco has been neutered, had his teeth cleaned, been microchipped, and is up to date on his vaccinations.

***If you feel you have the right home for Chico, please read our policies and procedures at www.chihuahua-rescue.com/procedure.htm then fill out an online adoption application.

TOMMY
©
My Best Friend is Nancy Krupp!
Hi! My name is Tommy and I am about 4 years old and I now weigh a whopping 7 lbs! I was rescued from an attic where I was scared and alone. The nice people contacted CRT and off to rescue I went! I have a foster momma now that I love very much. My momma says this is a little bit of a problem bc I don't love to many other people.  My eyesight is poor on account of cataracts and so I am kind  of a fraidy boy. I know my momma won't hurt me and I trust her so she is my rock but I'd let somebody else be my rock if they were just a wee bit patient. I would love a home where I was an only child or maybe had one sibling. I am very scared of cats so I'd like it to be a kitty free home. I am getting good at the potty outside thing and I am good in the car. My momma takes me for rides in the stroller or  she puts me in a pack and I just love that! I get around pretty good and don't bump into the furniture. My foster mom  says I am a good boy who deserves a loving home.   Tommy is being fostered outside of Syracuse NY.

UPDATE
5/4/07  Tommy has had successful cataract surgery and lens implants in both eyes and is now a seeing dog! He is so much happier and it has changed his life in so many ways. He has a friend at his foster home and now with vision he skips around behind his buddy, bonding in a new way. His potty habits have greatly improved since he is not so afraid of being outside and he is aiming at the telephone pole and trees and bushes, along with his foster brothers.  Tommy's curiosity is heightened and although still not trusting of all humans, he puts his feet up on folks as he checks them out and truly appears to be relishing his ability to see and explore.  All of this good news will improve even more once he is able to get his e collar off, as no dog loves to live in one of those. Because of Tommy's prior neglect and possible abuse, he will need a home experienced in the ways of persnickety Chihuahuas. His vocal expression needs to be read and understood. He does not love everyone so it should be a home where he has no exposure to children and his socialization with the rest of the world is handled appropriately. Tommy would do well with another small, older, non alpha dog, or would be happy as an only if his mom or dad was a stay at home parent. Please refer to
www.chihuahua-rescue.org for adoption app. and all adoption policies, procedures and adoption fees.

***If you feel you have the right home for  Tommy, please read our policies and procedures at www.chihuahua-rescue.com/procedure.htm then fill out an online adoption application.  Once you do that, please email kachina@texas.net.
