Put A Little Love In Your Life - Adopt A Chihuahua

ARCHIE
My best friends are Andrew and Pat Parker, and Nikki.

Name:  Archie
Gender:  Neutered Male
Age:  Approx. 10 years (as of April 2010)
Weight:  Approx 5lbs (but will lose a few ounces after he's done with those pesky heartworms!)
Dogs/cats:  Loves small dogs, larger dogs and cats unknown
Kids:  Easily overwhelmed by small and/or active kids, so better with older, calmer children
Energy level:  Low-Medium
Apartment appropriate:  Yes, but will probably need to be carried up/down stairs
Housebroken:  Crate/pen trained and housebroken (ASKS to go out!)

Archie is not yet available for adoption, but he could REALLY use some best friends to help him with his medical costs!  He's come a long way from the neglected, skinny, sickly kiddo in the animal shelter to the soft, plump, happy lovebug he is today.  He LOVES everybody and has never met a stranger.  He thinks that being petted and cuddled is the greatest thing in the world, and he always has kisses available for the people who want them.  He is now strong enough to trot around outside, go up and down doggie stairs to the couch, and even haul his favorite toy bear that is as big as he is around with him.  He barks his raspy little bark at his foster mama to let her know when it's dinner time or when he isn't getting enough attention, and it is so precious.  To see a video of Archie in action, visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvWLqnbsGAM.

Archie is going through a special extended heartworm treatment now that his vet feels he is strong enough to take it.  Xrays have also shown that he has spinal stenosis and a heart valve defect.  Despite these issues, he has a zest for life and is a very happy boy.  As long as he stays on his medications, he should have many years left to spend with his people.  If you would like to make a donation, even a small one, to help Archie with his medical expenses, please visit http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/donation.htm.  Every little bit helps, and that's the truth!  If you are interested in giving this little boy a loving home, then please keep watching our website for when he becomes available!

ARCHIE UPDATE NOVEMBER 2010

Unfortunately, Archie's experimental heartworm treatment has failed, and he will need to stay with CRT for life.  We have begun treatment for his spinal stenosis and will work hard to keep Archie comfortable and happy for the rest of his life.  Despite all of his health issues, Archie has a zest for life and is a very sweet and happy boy.  He LOVES everybody and has never met a stranger.  He thinks that being petted and cuddled is the greatest thing in the world, and he always has kisses available for the people who want them.  To see a video of Archie in action, visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvWLqnbsGAM.

Even though Archie is not available for adoption, he could REALLY use some best friends to help him with his medical costs!  He needs a lot of support and medication to stay comfortable.  If you would like to make a donation, even a small one, to help Archie with his medical expenses, please visit http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/donation.htm.  Every little bit helps, and that's the truth!
