Holly
is a 5 1/2 pound, female chihuahua, and is around 4 years old.
She came to CRT in bad shape, from a backyard breeder.
She has been spayed, had her teeth cleaned, and had an abdominal
hernia repaired. She has also received all of her shots.
Unfortunately, she has luxating patellas on both back legs, that will
require surgery. Once this is done, she will be ready for
her new home. Holly got her name, because she came
to us just before Christmas. She bonds very closely
to her "human", but is extremely alpha over other
dogs......she would probably be best as an only dog, or with another
chihuahua that will not challenge her.
She has a very strong personality, and is very high
spirited.......a very self-confidant girl!! She is
funny, and will make a great companion..... She loves to be
held, and smothered with attention. But, she will
not be willing to share her quality time with another dog.
She would do best with a single person, and someone who has experience
with chihuahuas. Holly is not going to be a
good choice for someone who has never had a pet before.
Due to her past, she was never house-trained. We are
currently working on crate-training, in order to teach her to
"hold it", during the day. She is actually
doing very well. We are also teaching her to use
puppy pads. She is a very smart girl. If
you would like to donate towards her upcoming patella surgery, she would
be ever so grateful. We understand that the
economy is hurting most people, but any amount would help her towards
this goal.
