Meet Autumn. This girl has a beautiful reddish coat which looks like the autumn leaves as they begin to change. She has a gentle nature and is looking for a forever home to grow up in.
Autumn and her brothers were turned in to a local shelter. We believe they were being raised by a backyard breeder, as none of them were potty trained and they didn’t even seem to know what grass was (isn’t that sad?). They also were covered with fleas when they were surrendered which indicates they were outside, probably in cages. Now these little ones are thrilled to be clean, have regular food, and have an indoor home to be safe in. And they are ready to find a forever home.
Autumn loves the other dogs in her foster home. She loves to play with them. Her favorite things to do with her 4 legged siblings are to run, chase, wrestle, then snuggle down with them for a nap! She also loves to be outside. Autumn will explore the backyard and enjoys chasing squirrels! She also loves to sun bathe and will lay there to soak up the sun. Note that because of her tiny size, you will always want to be in the yard with her as there are instances of large birds such as hawks grabbing tiny dogs her size. So please protect her while she enjoys her moments outside.
Autumn also enjoys her human family. When we first got her, she was shy. She wasn’t sure if she could trust her new family and would sit back and watch. Based on her history, you can understand this. Now that she knows she is safe, she loves to hang around her family. She will sit next to you on the couch and encourage you to pet her. She longs to be loved, and is happy when you praise her. She also enjoys laying by a window and sunning while she watches the activity around the home.
Autumn has a quiet and mellow personality. She is about 4 years old and is fully grown at 4.9 pounds. Due to her small size and quiet nature, we recommend an all adult home, or one with older mature children. Note that Autumn is a bit noise sensitive, so if you speak loudly to her she will often retreat to her safe place (IE her crate). Her new family will have to be patient and understand that this is part of her journey from homeless to a forever, loving home. She has come so far in our program, and we know there is a loving family out there who will let her complete the journey!
Autumn is potty trained, but she does like to go outside to potty regularily. She is also crate trained and sleeps in her crate at night. Sometimes during the day, she will go to her crate for a quick nap if the noise and activity in the house get too over whelming. She loves a clean crate and will not potty in there or make any messes!
