Introducing sweet Samantha, and her brother Jaxon. These two are bonded at the hip, and we would like to find them a forever home together!
CRT was contacted in September by the SPCA and asked to take 16 chihuahuas and chi mixes involved in a cruelty seizure case. With all the Hurricane Harvey dogs they were housing, time was of the essence in getting them out. They had been living outside in deplorable, filthy conditions without the basics: no shelter, no food or water. CRT was able to make room for all 16 plus the 5 newborns that had been born the night before. Samantha and Jaxon were two of these unfortunate dogs.
When Samantha and Jaxon first came to our program, they were unsure of what was happening. They were super happy to be able to live inside. For the first two weeks, they would watch their foster family from an ajoining room. We could tell they wanted to come and sit on a warm lap and be loved, but they were not sure it was safe. But slowly they gained confidence and came out of their shell. They now are two of the happiest dogs we have ever fostered, and they are ready for their new home! Note that there may be a short adjustment period when they move to a new home, but they are ready to love you and be loved back!
Both Samantha and Jaxon get along great with the other small dogs in their foster home. As soon as they arrived in to their new foster home, they were playing and being best friends with every other dog around them. They warmed up quicker to the dogs than the humans – LOL. After about 3 days, they both discovered toys. Oh my! They both love carrying toys everywhere they go and playing with them. Both Samantha and Jaxon even bring the toys over to you to show you how much fun they are! We are not sure if either of them has ever had toys and they seems so happy to have them now. We hope you have a toy budget! When they are not playing with the other dogs or with toys, you can find them snuggling together, sound asleep. Although there are plenty of dog beds in their foster home, they always end up together in the same bed with their heads laying on top of each other.
Samantha and Jaxon also love to go outside. When we open the door, they are the first ones out, leading the way for the others. Samantha and Jaxon enjoy running in the yard and racing with their foster friends. And they have discovered the joy of chasing squirrels up the trees. They would love to have a yard to play in as they grow. Note: Jaxon is quite the athlete – he can climb wire fences! So their forever home MUST have a wooden fence to keep them safe.
Samantha and Jaxon also love people. They have now totally relaxed in their foster home and want to be everywhere you are. They especially enjoy sneaking up on the human bed at night and cuddling right next to you. They also have discovered the joy of sitting on laps and getting belly rubs. These are two of the most loving little dogs you will find!
Samantha and Jaxon are potty trained. They will go potty outside and they use a peepee pad inside as a backup. They LOVE their treats. Samantha will even get up on her two back legs and dance for hers! She will melt your heart.
Both Samantha and Jaxon are very friendly. They will do well in a family. They would love to have other small dogs to play with, but if they are the only two in your home, that will be fine too. As long as they have each other, they will be happy forever. Note that they both seem to be afraid of larger dogs, so we recommend a home with small dogs only. They are both about 2 years old and are a perfect 7 pounds. Samantha has golden red coloring with a white chest. And she has the most amazing ears. When she tilts that head and perks up her head, well it is game over. She has your heart. LOL. Jaxon has golden red coloring with some black fur on top (similar to the way German Shephards are colored). He has adorable ears that perk up when you call him. This guy is going to steal your heart.
