Betty White – Puppy – Coming Mid-May – Chihuahua Rescue & Transport

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas or the North Central Texas area.

Meet one of our newest CRT puppies – Betty White.

Ginger and her 8 puppies were surrendered to CRT when their family could not take care of them. Betty is one of the eight puppies (other puppies are Bernie, Frank, June, Grace, Alice, Pearl, Daisy). The puppies were born on Jan 18th, 2025. The puppies were only two weeks old when surrendered, but have thrived in CRT’s care. Thank you to our loyal foster families for caring for Ginger and all her puppies!

The puppies have had their first and second round of vaccinations. They will have their third round of vaccinations in early May and also get spayed/neutered and microchipped at that time. They will then be ready to be adopted into their forever homes. We are taking applications now.

Betty was born on January 18, 2025. She weighed a little over 7.5 pounds at her 1 4week vet appointment and continues to grow. We are not sure how large the puppies will get. Her Mom is about 12 pounds and we have no idea who the Dad is. We did have a DNA kit donated by a sweet supporter. The DNA results are in! The DNA results are in! The puppies are 43% Chihuahua, 18% Shih Tzu, 11% Poodle (Toy/Miniature) and 9% Dachshund. They are definitely 100% perfect! The DNA kit projects their fully grown weight to be 9-18 pounds, which aligns with the Mom’s size. The health results show “clear”. Betty has a beautiful tri-color coat (black with a little bit of tan and white mixed in). She has cute floppy ears. The DNA results say she is likely to maintain her floppy ears when fully grown.

Betty is a sweet puppy. She is in a foster home with another sibling and loves to play. We are potty training her to go potty outside, and to use potty pads as a backup. She is doing a great job. At night she sleeps in a doggy bed inside of an ex-pen with her sibling.

Betty is a long legged beauty. She is daring and energetic. She is curious and fearless. She loves to explore and learn new things. She is athletic and loves to run and jump. She is more the instigator in play time. She is very adept in using her nose and loves to “hunt” for food. She is in the chewing phase so we always keep toys around her! She loves to find sticks in the yard, then proudly brings them to you. When she is done playing, she comes running to you for love. She loves for you to pick her up so she can cuddle with you while on your lap. This girl’s joy is contagious.

The ideal home for Betty would be one with high energy. She would love to have another young dog (maybe 1-3 years) to play with. Applications will not be considered where she would be an only dog. If you do not have another pet, please consider Alice (who she is growing up with). They would make a great pair! She needs a family who can check on her every 4-6 hours (would not be a good fit for a family that works 10-12 hour days). Because of her love of family and attention, she would love to live with a work-from-home family. There are no children in her foster home but Betty loves people and we think she would do well with children 8 and older. Betty would love to grow up in a younger family that is active and can match her energy and activity level!

Betty will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. Vet work is scheduled to be completed in mid-May, and she will then be ready for adoption. We are accepting applications now.

This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $350.00 adoption donation required.
