Meet one of our newest CRT puppies – Alice.
Ginger and her 8 puppies were surrendered to CRT when their family could not take care of them. Alice is one of the eight puppies (other puppies are Bernie, Frank, June, Grace, Betty, Pearl, Daisy). The puppies were born on Jan 18th, 2025. The puppies were only two weeks old when surrendered, but have thrived in CRT’s care. Thank you to our loyal foster families for caring for Ginger and all her puppies!
The puppies have had their first and second round of vaccinations. They will have their third round of vaccinations in early May and also get spayed/neutered and microchipped at that time. They will then be ready to be adopted into their forever homes. We are taking applications now.
Alice was born on January 18, 2025. She weighed a little over 6 pounds at her 14 week vet appointment and continues to grow. We are not sure how large the puppies will get. Her Mom is about 12 pounds and we have no idea who the Dad is. We did have a DNA kit donated by a sweet supporter. The DNA results are in! The puppies are 43% Chihuahua, 18% Shih Tzu, 11% Poodle (Toy/Miniature) and 9% Dachshund. They are definitely 100% perfect! The DNA kit projects their fully grown weight to be 9-18 pounds, which aligns with the Mom’s size. The health results show “clear”. Alice has a beautiful tri-color coat (black with a little bit of tan and white mixed in). She has cute floppy ears. The DNA results say she is likely to maintain her floppy ears and have short legs when fully grown.
Alice is a sweet puppy. She is in a foster home with another sibling and loves to play. We are potty training her to go potty outside, and to use potty pads as a backup. She is doing a great job. At night she sleeps in a doggy bed inside of an ex-pen with her sibling.
Alice is very curious and loves to check everything out. She enjoys playing games and we hide treats for her to find. Alice enjoys going out into the backyard and has fun running, wrestling and playing with her sister. She enjoys toys, especially chew toys. She loves you so much that she will try to climb up your leg to get to you (we are working on that – lol). But she is doing that so you will pick her up and cuddle with her. She LOVES to cuddle. Alice has the sweetest personality. She is the more mellow puppy and has a laid back personality (for a puppy!).
The ideal home for Alice would be one with high energy. She would love to have another young dog (maybe 1-3 years) to play with. Applications will not be considered where she would be an only dog. If you do not have another pet, please consider Betty White (who she is growing up with). She needs a family who can check on her every 4-6 hours (would not be a good fit for a family that works 10-12 hour days). Because of her love of family and attention, she would love to live with a work-from-home family. There are no children in her foster home but Alice loves people and we think she would do well with children 8 and older. Alice would love to grow up in a younger family that is active and can match her energy and activity level!
Alice is being fostered in the Dallas-Fort Worth (Texas) area. Our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/
Alice will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. Vet work is scheduled to be completed in mid-May, and she will then be ready for adoption. We are accepting applications now.
This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $350.00 adoption donation required.
As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention. Applications will not be considered if one or more of these requirements are not met.
After filling out an adoption application (found at http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/), please email DFWCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com if you are interested in this dog. Please be sure to read about our adoption process and then fill out an adoption application before emailing the contact person.
