Introducing adorable Jenna. Jenna is a sweet puppy who is ready for her forever home.
In early March, CRT received an emergency request from some Good Samaritans to help with five Chihuahua puppies they had found in the woods. The friends were out hiking when the puppies came running out of the brush begging to be saved. These puppies had obviously been dumped and left to die in the woods. There were no houses for miles around. These little dogs were friendly but dirty, thin and hungry. They needed immediate help just to survive. The Good Samaritans scooped up all five puppies, headed back to the DFW area. They reached out to CRT and we immediately agreed to bring them into our program. Jenna is one of these puppies. We are completing all the vet work. The puppies will be ready for adoption by mid-April. We are taking applications now.
Jenna gets along with other small dogs in her foster home. She has a lot of energy and loves to run and play with them. She also loves to cuddle with them. Jenna is starting to play with toys (we are not sure she had toys in her first home).
Jenna is the bravest of the litter and is the first to come out and trot around the house! Jenna loves to run and explore, so her home will need to be secure in all aspects. She will need a secure wooden fence in the backyard (she can get through other type of fencing). Jenna can be a door darter, so her forever home will want to have a protective barrier around the front door to keep her safe.
Jenna is a little shy when she first meets you. But once she feels safe and warms up, she wants to be your buddy. Jenna will climb up on your lap and will cuddle for hours. She loves belly rubs and will give you kisses to show her affection. Note that she is very active and loves to be right by your feet, so could be a tripping hazard! We are working with her on this habit, but it is very important for her adopting family to know this.
As Jenna continues to grow up and gain confidence, it is likely that she will be the social chairman in your home. She is adorable in all aspects and wants to be your best friend! Jenna has an outgoing personality. Her tail is constantly wagging and she is so happy to be around you. She loves to follow you around the house to see what you are working on. Whatever it is, she wants to be a part of it.
Our vet estimates that Jenna is about 10 months old. She currently weighs about pounds, and our vet thinks she is almost completely grown. Jenna has a black and brown mixed coat with a white chest. Her ears will perk up when you call her name. Her eyes are beautiful.
Jenna has done well with her potty training. She will potty on washable, indoor potty pads with only the occasional accident that can be easily managed. For her health and safety, we will wait to take her outside in the yard until she has had his second round of puppy vaccinations. (Round two of shots will be completed in early April, and then Jenna will begin housetraining in the backyard.) At night, Jenna sleeps in a doggie bed inside an ex-pen with her siblings.
The ideal home for Jenna would be one with high energy. She would love to have another young dog (maybe 1-3 years) to play with. Applications will not be considered where she would be the only dog. Due to her small size, we do not recommend large dogs as a companion with Jenna. Jenna a family who can check on her every 4-6 hours (would not be a good fit for a family that works 10-12 hour days). She is fairly quiet, but she also has high energy. Loud noises do startle her and she will scamper off to safely (this is likely a response to having to live in the woods and fighting for survival). There are no children in her foster home, but is a friendly little girl. Due to her tiny size, we recommend a home with older, mature children (teens and older).
We have been asked “where did the five puppies get their names?” Right about the time these sweet puppies were found, our DFW coordinator’s hometown Lincon, IL Lady Railers completed an undefeated season and won the Illinois 3A state girl’s basketball championship. They played so many larger schools, but remained focused and won every game. These five puppies are survivors and winners. So in honor of the Lincoln, IL Lady Railers starting five – the state champions – we present to you five more champions: Becca, Jenna, Taryn, Tori and Froebe.
Jenna is being fostered in the DFW (Texas) area. If this sweet girl sounds like the right fit for your home, our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/
Jenna is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, HW negative. and on heartworm prevention. She is ready to join a loving family – could that family be yours?

As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention. Applications will not be considered if one or more of these requirements are not met.
