Thelma is an approximately 14-year-old female chihuahua who weighs only 3 pounds. She has a gentle and quiet demeanor, preferring to spend her days as a total couch potato. She enjoys curling up under a blanket on the sofa and can often be found napping in her playpen at night. Though she is shy, she becomes more affectionate the longer she spends time with her human, and she loves to cuddle. Thelma has a soft spot for scrambled eggs and will even climb onto her owner in hopes of getting a Cheerio. She does not engage in play, but she relishes head pets and ear scratches.
Thelma came to her current home as part of a bonded pair with her sister, Louise. After Louise passed away last fall, Thelma has slowly been learning to enjoy her independence. Despite having had most of her lower jaw removed, Thelma still has a great love for food, often eagerly licking it off her owner’s fingers. She is completely blind and likely deaf, and she has no teeth. Though her physical limitations are significant, Thelma’s spirit remains sweet and loving.
She coexists peacefully with the other dogs in her home, though they mostly ignore one another. If another dog gets too close to her, she lets them know with a series of little squeaks. Thelma may be delicate, but her loving nature and gentle soul are truly heartwarming.
